The Environment and Sustainable Growth
We are facing a climate crisis and need county leadership that will act to protect our clean air, clean water, and green spaces. Our local business owners and agriculture workers need a county growth plan that allows them to expand and thrive at a sustainable rate, balancing the prosperity of our people and the health of the planet.
This growth plan will include incentivizing green building and green structures in our community to promote energy efficiency and green building as the standard. Much of my work in the electric utility environment (Public Utility District No. 1 of Cowlitz County) as an Energy Efficiency Manager and in the education and research space (Washington State University Energy Program) as a Principal Investigator and Senior Project Manager has influenced my continued engagement on this issue.
We need to work with city and state governments to formulate a collaborative plan to address our most pressing climate issues like global warming leading to sea level rise, increases in forest fires, and decreases in water supply.
